Ari Simon hosts Memorializing Ecological Loss at Green-Wood Cemetery with Johanna Lovecchio from Columbia University’s Climate School and Partners in Public Design, queer ecologist and environmental consultant Katie Coyne, Dr. Maya Livio of American University, and Sara Evans, Green-Wood’s director of living collections.

Madhura Studios officially launches to the public as a combined yoga studio + multifunctional production and live event space. It begins on the Autumnal Equinox with sunset yoga, led by Jenny Chao and Julia Lourie, Madhura’s Director of Yoga and Artistic Director. Then, a NOMAD poetry takeover of the loft, curated by Jayson P. Smith and featuring poetry and music by R. A. Villanueva, RaFia Santana, Jeremy Michael Clark, Nabila Lovelace, and Tyrone Bevans.

Paine the Poet, Artist in Residence, arrives to Madhura Studios for a stripped-down film shoot showcasing a few of his poems.

Grief School Summer Camp is a five-day playground, facilitated by Ari Simon and kwonyin, for ideating and creating what gives us meaning through loss, held at Madhura Studios. Through meditation, creative writing and art, conversation, and creation of rituals, participants learn and practice processing grief in community.

Madhura Studios’ soft launch is an evening of live dance, music, celebration and declaration of the studio’s presence as a new space to invite and empower the most talented practitioners of every type of art in a never-before-seen way.

Dark Night of the Soul is Midheaven Network’s annual Solstice Festival of art, music and crucial conversations to explore and understand the shadow, where all possibility (including rebirth) originates. This is a collaboration with the Dance Union Podcast to host a night of dance performance and conversation around punking and waacking.
