UPCOMING WORKSHOPS:

Saying Yes. - April 29th, 6:30pm-8:3pm

Our monthly ritual meets just at the starting lunation of April’s New Moon, at the reminder of the new beginnings that are available to us many times over.
This month’s ritual invites us to be comfortable with the vastness of the cosmos and its infinite possibilities for dreaming and creating the future.

Through Yoga postures and somatic practices focused on creativity and lower body therapeutics, this workshop offers an opportunity to reflect on naming what you want to bring forth and carry forward. What are you saying yes to?

What to Bring:

  • A journal and pen for reflection exercises.

  • Mats and props will be provided to support your practice and rest, but feel free to bring your own if preferred.

Welcome to the shadow, the unconscious aspect of our personalities that the ego does not identify with. This ritual opens space for us to embrace the parts of ourselves in need of compassion, forgiveness and liberation. The shadow is filled with the teachers and light we possess that are waiting to come forward. It is filled with the transformation we are waiting for.

Through Yoga postures and somatic practices focused on back body strengthening to build gentle back bends. Practice will wind down with gentle spinal and hip resets prior to a meditative lay and rest.

Legacy - June 20th, 6:30pm-8:30pm

What makes up your legacy? What traditions and ancestors' dreams do you want to carry forward? What patterns are you breaking? What definitions of success are you choosing with? How do you want to be seen and remembered?

Our actions ripple our beyond us and create imprints in the world around us. This month’s ritual invites us to remember and add clarity to the ‘I am’s and ‘I want’s that will exist beyond us. Yoga and somatic movement will focus on upper body therapeutics around the upper back, shoulders, neck and jaw before winding down to mindful lay and then rest.

PAST WORKSHOPS:

Renewal - March 14th, 6:30pm-8:30pm

This workshop takes place during an auspicious and transformative time. With the Full Worm Moon and a lunar eclipse gracing the sky just days before the Spring Equinox and astrological new year, we are invited into the energy of earthly renewal.

Through Yoga postures and somatic practices focused on grounding and lower body therapeutics, this workshop offers an opportunity to reflect on what you wish to carry forward into the next cycle. Together, we’ll explore the theme of renewal, anchoring our intentions in the body and resting deeply in the promise of new beginnings.

In Love - February 7th, 6:30pm-8:30pm

How is your heart? How is the relationship you are cultivating with yourself?

This month’s Yuja Soul workshop invites you into a tender space to explore the acts and experiences of love directed inward: self-love, acceptance, and forgiveness. Continuing our journey through the Liberation Channel of the Chakras (heart, throat, third eye, and crown), we’ll use movement and somatic practices to open the heart space, building towards gentle and empowering backbends.

Our practice will be enriched with mantra, mudras, and meditation drawn from Hatha Yoga and Buddhist traditions, culminating in deep rest and reflection within the heartspace.

Meeting Abundance - January 24th, 6:30pm-8:3pm

The new year invites reflection and intention. What does abundance mean to you in this season of life? What are you ready to welcome, and what are you ready to release to align with the fullness of your being?

In this first Yuja Soul workshop of the year, we will move through yoga postures and somatic practices designed to liberate the heart, throat, third eye, and crown chakras. With a focus on upper body therapeutics, we’ll explore how to see ourselves as one with the abundance we seek. The evening will close with restorative rest in Yoga Nidra and an offering of affirmations to center our intentions.

‘Wildest Dreams’ Workshop - Friday Dec 13, 6:30pm-8:30pm

Welcome to your space to pause, reflect and be with the abundance you are seeking. And welcome to the lunation of 2024’s last Full Moon. This annual December Yoga for Black Women Workshop invites us to add clarity to the abundance we are seeking, and in turn see what our hopes are asking us to release. This workshop's invitation to manifestation will be supported by the Yoga Philosophy of Advaita Vedanta, non-duality.

This offering consists of Somatic Experiencing, journaling and Yoga Asana focused on a gentle build to backbends before winding down to rest. The revolved and releasing postures of twists will provide the reset from backbends before winding down to rest in a Yoga Nidra.

‘Soft Landing’ Workshop - Friday Nov 8, 6:30pm-8:30pm

A movement and self-inquiry workshop for all Black Women, for all practice levels.

Election season has been a whirlwind of information to process, pulls to leadership, choice, and dreaming for ourselves and the broader collective.

Welcome to a soft landing for ease, restoration, processing and community, especially for Black Women and Femmes who historically are called to the forefronts and foundations of liberation movements.

This workshop is designed to help restore and nourish your body and heart through journaling, Somatics, Yoga Asana to support grounding and centering, and rest in Yoga Nidra, while held by themes of community, belonging, and care.

Open to all practice levels and hearts, this offering invites everyone to find solace and connection.

‘Remembering’ Workshop - Friday, Oct 25, 6:30pm - 8:30pm

Consider the gaze you turn inward: How do you see yourself?

What aspects of your being are you eager to connect with more deeply?

October’s Yuja Soul workshop is focused on accessing the energies of the back body—drawing from past events, ancestral wisdom, and the deep knowledge that resides within us to reconnect with our innate power.

The challenges we face on both individual and collective journeys are continuous invitations to remember who we truly are, and meet ourselves with grace. This dedicated space is an opportunity to reconnect with ourselves through a lens of clarity and self-compassion, using movement, breath, and grounding practices to access the parts of ourselves that have always been there.

This workshop will incorporate mindfulness journaling and visualization, followed by somatic experiencing and movement. Our yoga asana practice will focus on strengthening the physicality and energetics backline of the body and shoulder complex to support a  gentle progression to backbends and opening to deeper self-expansion. We'll close with restorative postures, a body scan, and a final rest to integrate the experience.

All workshops take place in-person at Madhura Studios

Yuja Soul sessions are a dedicated, brave and tender space for all Black Women and is open to all practice levels.

Please bring a journal and pen. Mats and props will be provided to support your practice and rest.

The pricing options to join are self-determined based on where you see yourself reflected. To join this dedicated space, select one of the tiers available (community, standard or supporter) that best suits you.
