SOUND IS THE EASIEST FORM OF MEDITATION BECAUSE ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS FOLLOW THE SOUND.

Join Franck Raharinosy and Margot Langman for an evening seance of sound: starting with a series of light, gentle movements and a deep breathing exercise to relax your body and mind, the experience then proceeds to offer a deep meditation through sound that unlocks unique states of relaxation and mindfulness.

With the Sound Meditation at the core of our practice the main benefits of this work include reduction of tension and stress, increased ability to manage anxiety and depression, to recognize and release undesirable thought patterns and habits, improvement in sleep, increased self-awareness and an enhanced ability to listen, be present and reconnect with your heart.

DESCRIPTION:

Life is an active, rhythmic, and happening thing, and although life feels chaotic a lot of the time, a good frame, technique, or pattern to reference can bring us back to center.

True agency lies in knowing and understanding the relationship between nature’s universal cycles and our personal patterns.

As womxn, we function on a lunar cycle, and are constantly in dialogue with the moon’s ever- shifting positions. Whether you’re struggling with PCOS, thyroid issues, PMS, you’re on the pill, getting off the pill, or hell, your period is perfect, understanding the frame of the lunar cycle can be incredibly empowering, and can allow us to see ourselves both personally and part of a larger universal cycle.

In this 4-week series, we’ll utilize the natural rhythms of the moon and explore how each phase corresponds to our menstrual cycle. Together, we can start to navigate our bodies’ transitions without resistance, reclaiming a sense of flow, and learn to embrace our lunacy.

Expect about 10-20 minutes of discussion and journaling per session, 1 hourish of practice (flow, restorative, and breathwork).

1. Week 1: Ovulatory Phase (Full Moon)

2. Week 2: Luteal Phase (Waning Moon)

3. Week 3: Menstrual Phase (New Moon)

4. Week 4: Follicular Phase (Waxing Moon)

‘Remembering’ Workshop - Friday, Oct 25, 6:30pm - 8:30pm

Consider the gaze you turn inward: How do you see yourself?

What aspects of your being are you eager to connect with more deeply?

October’s Yuja Soul workshop is focused on accessing the energies of the back body—drawing from past events, ancestral wisdom, and the deep knowledge that resides within us to reconnect with our innate power.

The challenges we face on both individual and collective journeys are continuous invitations to remember who we truly are, and meet ourselves with grace. This dedicated space is an opportunity to reconnect with ourselves through a lens of clarity and self-compassion, using movement, breath, and grounding practices to access the parts of ourselves that have always been there.

This workshop will incorporate mindfulness journaling and visualization, followed by somatic experiencing and movement. Our yoga asana practice will focus on strengthening the physicality and energetics backline of the body and shoulder complex to support a  gentle progression to backbends and opening to deeper self-expansion. We'll close with restorative postures, a body scan, and a final rest to integrate the experience.

This dedicated, brave and tender space for all Black Women is open to all practice levels.

Please bring a journal and pen. Mats and props will be provided to support your practice and rest.

The pricing options to join are self-determined based on where you see yourself reflected. To join this dedicated space, select one of the tiers available (community, standard or supporter) that best suits you.

‘Soft Landing’ Workshop - Friday Nov 8, 6:30pm-8:30pm

A movement and self-inquiry workshop for all Black Women, for all practice levels.

Election season has been a whirlwind of information to process, pulls to leadership, choice, and dreaming for ourselves and the broader collective.

Welcome to a soft landing for ease, restoration, processing and community, especially for Black Women and Femmes who historically are called to the forefronts and foundations of liberation movements.

This workshop is designed to help restore and nourish your body and heart through journaling, Somatics, Yoga Asana to support grounding and centering, and rest in Yoga Nidra, while held by themes of community, belonging, and care.

Open to all practice levels and hearts, this offering invites everyone to find solace and connection.

This dedicated, brave and tender space for all Black Women is open to all practice levels.

‘Wildest Dreams’ Workshop - Friday Dec 13, 6:30pm-8:30pm

Welcome to your space to pause, reflect and be with the abundance you are seeking. And welcome to the lunation of 2024’s last Full Moon. This annual December Yoga for Black Women Workshop invites us to add clarity to the abundance we are seeking, and in turn see what our hopes are asking us to release. This workshop's invitation to manifestation will be supported by the Yoga Philosophy of Advaita Vedanta, non-duality.

This offering consists of Somatic Experiencing, journaling and Yoga Asana focused on a gentle build to backbends before winding down to rest. The revolved and releasing postures of twists will provide the reset from backbends before winding down to rest in a Yoga Nidra.

This workshop is open to all Black Women at all practice levels. Please bring a journal and pen. Mats and props will be provided to support your practice and rest.

Slowing Down for Self-Care

WHEN:

Friday, November 22nd, 6pm-8pm SIGN UP HERE

PRACTITIONER: Jenny Chao

DESCRIPTION:

Hit your pause button before the upcoming holiday season with an evening of self-care and slowing down. The term “self-care” has become a trendy term in the wellness world so let’s redefine it for ourselves, in community.

We live in a world where our nervous systems are constantly taxed with various types of stress in our daily routines and throughout our environments. Restorative yoga is a gentle, prop-supported practice that is about intentional relaxation. By practicing rest to help reduce cortisol levels, we promote the rest and digest functions of our parasympathetic nervous system, which is essential for our overall well being.

Join Jenny for some intentional journaling to help redefine what self-care means to you, some light movement and pranayama before diving into a soothing restorative practice. Rest will be amplified with sound meditation via bells, singing bowls and other instruments. We will explore a series of supported postures designed to encourage an opening of the chakras and soften your entire being into a soothing state of calm. Meditation will round out your practice and send you home with a renewed sense of what it means to take care of you, the most important person you can take care of.

This workshop is for all levels and no prior yoga experience is necessary.
